Manufacturing Accountant Full-time

The cost accountant position is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The cost accountant must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.

  • Manage the updates of data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system
  • Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems
  • Oversee standard costs in the bill of materials
  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
  • Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the moth-end close
  • Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principle
  • Report on breakeven points by products, work centers, and factories
  • Gather data and report periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances
  • Manage effectiveness of operational performance by providing operations with financial analysis, thorough reporting of plant metrics and KPI?s
  • Analyze plant financial data to quantify cost savings opportunities and to support Operations with implementing cost reduction initiatives in order to improve EBITDA

Requirements:
  • Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting/Finance Required
  • Must have a minimum of three ? five year?s work experience in cost accounting.
  • Strong PC skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Previous experience with SAGE preferred.
  • Excellent analysis skills, and the ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.
  • Must have attention to detail and ability to review work for any discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
  • Outstanding problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Must have the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to be versatile, can adapt to a fast paced environment with attention to detail.
  • High level of maturity and confidence necessary to interact with sophisticated internal and external clients
  • Strong leadership and customer service skills with the ability to ensure that a high level of service and quality is maintained
  • Product knowledge with clear technical understanding of services to be able to effectively communicate to customers
  • Excellent project management, organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding attention to detail, flexibility and creativity
  • Persistence coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment, work with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality of shared information and/or assignments
