Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Full-time

Full-time Certified Nurse Aide Position Available:
Full-time 80 hour bi-weekly schedule on 2nd Shift (2pm-10:30pm)
Candidates will be required to work every other weekend and every other holiday. The ideal candidate will have either prior experience in a long term care setting or experience working on a short term rehabilitation unit.

Job Summary:
An individual that performs non specialized tasks such as bathing, dressing, hygiene, toileting and feeding. Completes required documentation related to nursing policy and procedures. The tasks completed will be under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Major Responsibilities, Duties, Functions, and Tasks of the Position:
  • Assist resident with personal care needs based on their wishes and routine as well as their care planned interventions ? including oral care, bathing, dressing/undressing, hair care/shaving, nail care, backrubs, perineal care, care of hearing aids, glasses and dentures
  • Assist residents with bowel and bladder function as needed to keep them clean and dry for the prevention of skin damage and to preserve dignity
  • Monitor bowel and bladder status, report results from suppositories or enemas, report changes, trends and problems to the licensed nurse as needed
  • Make beds
  • Position residents for comfort, using cushions and supportive devices as needed
  • Provide preventative skin care (based on care planned information in the resident care guide) in hopes of preventing skin breakdown (i.e. turn, reposition, applying barrier creams and lotions, supportive/pressure reducing cushions to recliners and wheelchairs)
  • Assist residents with ambulation, transfers and frequent changes in position
  • Prepare residents for meals (i.e. hand washing, clean clothing, neat hair, toileting)
  • Provide care after the meal (i.e. wash face and hands, ensure clothing is not soiled)
  • Obtain resident measurements as requested (i.e. vital signs, height, weight, intake and output)
  • Use mechanical lifts per the resident transfer/lift forms and per facility policy and procedure
  • Use gait belts for any ambulatory resident requiring contact guard assistance or greater unless care planned otherwise
  • Respond to call bells and fall monitoring devices promptly
  • Check on residents frequently, especially those who are unable to call for help or communicate their needs
  • Ensure residents have access to call bell when in their rooms both in and out of bed
  • Monitor residents for elopement and report missing residents immediately to the supervisor
  • Assist with the care of the dying resident
  • Provide post mortem care
  • Collect specimens as instructed, assist in preparing for medical tests or exams
  • Assist in feeding residents
  • Immediately report resident related care concerns about treatment or abuse to the Department Supervisor as well as the Executive Director of the facility
  • Interact with Team Members, Residents, and Guests in a courteous and professional manner
  • Be accountable for all information in the Team Member Handbook
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident, Team Member, family and facility information
  • Understand and upholds Resident Rights
  • Follow each Residents Plan of Care
  • Follow oral and written instructions for all duties assigned and performed in an effective, timely and professional manner
  • Complete assigned tasks in accordance with organization, facility, and department procedures
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Use supplies in an efficient and cost effective manner
  • Ensure equipment is treated with proper care and is used only for the purposes and in accordance for which it was designed to be used for
  • Follow facility reporting guidelines for any equipment that is not functioning properly or is need of repair
  • Use Infection control practices, including Standard Precautions, to prevent the spread of diseases
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, as directed
  • Complete all documentation per facility protocol and Standards of Practice
  • Follow all IT protocols, including submission of Sysaids, for all technology related issues
  • Answer call bells and assist as able
