Life Enrichment / Activities Director - Hire-on Bonus $7,000 Full-time

The Life Enrichment / Activities Director is responsible for organizing, planing, implementing and evaluating the Life Enrichment program to meet the recreational and intellectual and social needs of all residents.
The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

Bachelor?s degree in Social Services; BA required, MSW preferred.

3 years of experience in long term care services.

Volunteer coordinator, geriatric or behavioral health experience preferred.

Candidate must have a working knowledge of capital and operational budgets and must be able to successfully manage and supervise staff.
Certificates and Licenses are required within 12 months of hire.


Hours are: Monday thru Friday with occasional weekends as needed. `

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Using resident interests and preferences and focused on the Hearthstone philosophy of Service, design programming for the community to engage all residents in some aspect of program.
  • Build a comprehensive calendar which addresses the physical, cognitive, social and spiritual/creative needs of all residents in the community. Look at yearly as well as monthly calendar events.
  • Enlist and support ?resident?led? programming where appropriate.
  • Insure seven day/week programming is provided throughout the day both inside and going out of the community.
  • Coordinate all out-of-community programs with the Director of Transportation.
  • Insure calendars are coordinated and shared with residents throughout the community and uploaded to the Hearthstone website as well as shared with all staff.
  • Facilitate programming by engaging all residents present to their highest potential.
  • Utilize ?person centered? skills to engage residents.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of program and revise as needed.
  • Be familiar with computer input for completion of Life Enrichment portion of MDS within 5 days of admission and as required by regulation thereafter.
  • Document each significant interaction with a resident or resident?s significant other in that person?s medical records in a timely manner.
  • Attend Resident Care Conferences and provide quarterly summary of resident?s progress toward care plan goals.
  • Work with the nursing department to develop new programs or services within the department to meet emerging needs of residents.
  • Proficient in Dementia Care and Training.
  • Prepare and maintain the Life Enrichment budget.
  • Maintain and construct written policies and procedures to meet Federal and State regulations.
  • Hire and replace staff.
  • Coordinate staff performance per policy.
  • Coordinate/provide orientation and continuing education.
  • Coordinate scheduling of staff to meet care requirements and budgetary responsibility.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and encourage demonstrations of best practices, discussion of special topics and planning future programs.
  • Ability to develop a vision for the future and create a culture in which the long range goals can be achieved.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree in Social Services; BA required, MSW preferred.
  • Experience in supervising and managing staff
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, staffing, and scheduling
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience required
  • Highly professional and dependable
  • Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the internet
  • Able to utilize interactive technology programs to enhance the quality of life for residents
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications a plus
