Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

The Exam Proctor and Administrative Support is responsible for proctoring exams for students with testing accommodations in SAEO?s Testing Access Center and assisting with administrative tasks including the creation of accommodation letters and coordinating note-taking support for students approved for a peer note-taking accommodation.

    Exam Proctor
  • Administer all exams proctored in the
  • Testing Access Center.
  • Ensure that each student has the
  • opportunity to complete their exam
    according to all specific directions
    provided by the professor and their
    approved accommodations.
  • Maintain a quiet and distraction-free
  • testing environment.
  • Ensure that the VCU Honor Code and
  • security of all exams are upheld.
  • File reports with Student Conduct and
  • Academic Integrity when there are
    violations of academic integrity.
  • Monitor the Testing Access Center in
  • person and using a CCTV system.
  • Preserve the confidentiality of all
  • students and testing materials.
    Administrative Support
  • Monitor spreadsheet for incoming
  • accommodation letter requests.
  • Create accommodation letters for
  • students.
  • Receive all incoming requests for copies
  • of notes from students approved for the
    peer note-taker accommodation.
  • Oversee the note-taking database to
  • ensure notes are provided and received
    in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Instruct volunteers and students on how
  • to submit and receive notes using the
    note-taking database.
  • Interact with students when they have
  • any problems related to the provision of
    the peer note-taking accommodation.
  • Contact instructors to request support
  • when volunteers are not able to be
    identified.

The Exam Proctor and Administrative Support may fulfill other office duties, as assigned.


Minimum Hiring Standards
  • Bachelor?s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel,
  • Google Suite, and databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral
  • communication skills.
  • Some experience with the provision of
  • testing accommodations in an
    educational setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working in
  • and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and
    student environment or commitment to
    do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Hiring Standards
  • (Preferred) 1+ years experience working
  • with students with physical, sensory,
    learning, psychological and/or other
    disabilities in an educational or clinical
    setting (internship or part-time
    experience considered).

Required Licenses/ Certifications
Anticipated Hiring Range 27,000 - 32,000
Application Process/Additional Information

This position will be based on a three-year contract. Renewal at the end of a three-year term will be based on the availability of funding. This is an ideal position for a candidate interested in full-time employment and tuition benefits while enrolled in a graduate program.
