POSITION SUMMARY:

The Corporate Controller is responsible for managing the financial and various business operations of the Company and reports to the CEO. This position is the internal expert in cost accounting, financial analysis, management reporting and leads a small team in the following areas; accounting, human resources, information technology, purchasing, safety and compliance. The Corporate Controller will be a key member of the company?s management team and will assist the Company in setting and achieving its business goals. Given the size of the company, this is a roll up your sleeves financial leadership position requiring a hands on Manager.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop monthly reporting package and ensure it is prepared on a timely basis, provide analysis and update budget/forecast each month.
  • Manage external banking and CPA relationships.
  • Manage cash flow budget and optimize investment in working capital - collect receivables by their due date, work with purchasing to obtain more favorable vendor terms, identify and suggest ways to reduce costs.
  • Work with executive team to plan, set and achieve company strategic business goals, providing supporting forecasts & analysis
  • Manage the daily accounting activities, including financial reporting, budgeting, A/P, A/R, payroll, cost accounting, and cash flow.
  • Manage the cost accounting system, which will include identifying and implementing financial analysis reports to effectively manage the company on a short and long-term basis.
  • Manage and revise accounting processes and controls to support the operations of the company.
  • Work with the data in the company's custom ERP system to provide visibility into profitability by order, channel and sales person.
  • Analyze all elements of the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements on a regular basis with a close eye on the profitability of each individual business unit.
  • Ensure the Company is meeting all federal, state and local tax obligations while avoiding unnecessary tax expenditures.
  • Manage the information technology and communications functions to ensure the company has information systems to meet the needs of users and the goals of the business.
  • Develop inventory accounting compliant with GAAP, while also providing product cost information to support pricing decisions and identifying cost reduction opportunities.
  • Lead the annual year-end financial statement audit by independent accountants.
  • Coordinate timely preparation of corporate income tax returns by outside tax preparers.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration is required.
  • At least five years relevant work experience required.
  • A CPA or CMA designation is desired, but not required. Relevant experience and ability to demonstrate knowledge is more important than a certification.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting systems, bill of materials, job order costing, financial analysis, forecasting and the ability to produce and present meaningful management information is critical. Such knowledge has been obtained from work experience in manufacturing companies.
  • Experience in evaluating adequacy of accounting/ERP systems with a preference for experience in implementing new accounting/ERP systems and related processes in a small company systems environment (Microsoft Dynamics, Great Plains, Solomon, MAS 200).
  • Individual is able to perform detailed tasks while also demonstrating strong people management skills to team members. Works well with team members, particularly in other departments.
  • Preference for experience in providing financial management guidance and analysis to ownership groups.
  • Individual conducts work in a professional, energetic, forward-thinking and creative manner and is able to conduct oneself in a formal and informal manner depending upon the situation.
