Financial Reporting Accountant Full-time

This position is responsible with assisting in the preparation of corporate-wide financial statements for internal and external customers in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Furthermore, this position will support the preparation of the monthly financial book, True North metrics, board reporting and bond reporting. Lastly, this position will help enhance the financial reporting, including the best source and distribution method, to meet the needs of both our internal and external customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the preparation of audited financial statements and footnotes in accordance with GAAP (Combined, AIDHC, NCH, Pension, 403(b), 401(k) and Single Audit). Provides information to and prepares schedules for KPMG necessary to perform the interim and fiscal year-end audit test work.
  • Prepares annual tax returns (Form 990) and supporting schedules for The Nemours Foundation, Nemours New Jersey Physician Practice and Pediatric Medical Services Florida.
  • Generates the monthly financial book for the Executive Team and Board, True North metric results for internal customers and other standard and adhoc reports.
  • Produces quarterly unaudited financial statements (income statement, balance sheet and cash flow) for the Board.
  • Generates monthly and quarterly reports to comply with the various bond rating agency requirements.
  • Prepares quarterly lobbying activity report.
  • Assists with report enhancements and continuous improvement projects.
  • Prepares schedules, journal entries and reconciliations related to investments, bonds, the 403(b) and 401(k) plans.
  • Researches accounting rules and regulations and makes recommendations regarding company policy.
  • Understands Lawson subsystems (general ledger, asset management, activities, accounts payable, materials management, and payroll systems) in order to make process improvement recommendations and to streamline processes for the Accounting/Finance team. Writes Lawson add-ins queries for the Accounting/Finance team, which requires an understanding of the underlying database structure.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assists Financial Reporting Manager with any projects as needed.
  • Assists Director of Accounting with any projects as needed.
  • Assists all areas of Business Operations on an as needed basis.
  • Documents and maintains procedures for all functions.

Required Performance Skills:

  • Have excellent written, verbal and organizational skills. Must possess a clear, concise communication style for efficient and effective communication.
  • Demonstrates analytical skills with financial statements and other related accounting concepts. Includes recognizing the importance of process and knowing when to ask questions, make suggestions and make decisions.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and provide accurate information.
  • Able to work independently or with a team, schedule time efficiently and set priorities. Works effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Open to taking direction, accepting of feedback and willing to accept change.
  • Builds and fosters professional relationships both internally and externally.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required
  • 3-5 years of related experience is required
  • Requires advanced PC skills including Microsoft Excel (formulas, v-lookup and the ability to build/manipulate complex spreadsheets), Word, Outlook and Lawson or other enterprise accounting system experience.
