SQL Database Administrator Full-time

Responsibilities

The SQL Database Administrator II creates, maintains, and improves databases in a complex, distributed server environment. Ensures database design is effective, secure and reliable in order to meet APS's needs
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field and 3 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. Requires working technical knowledge gained through hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • Knowledge of physical data models, technical architecture, system interfaces, etc.
  • Experience with Azure, IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service) preferred
  • Automation experience leveraging technologies such as Python, Ansible, Powershell
  • Intermediate level experience with Database Performance and Tuning
  • Ability to develop and write technical documentation; model, design and deploy relational databases.
  • Proficient in install and supporting relational database management systems (RDMS); demonstrated continuous ability to improve operations and streamline work processes.

Key Job Accountabilities
1) Reviews, evaluates, designs, implements, and maintains company database
2) Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process
3) Translates user's needs into a sound database design with tables, fields, and relationships documented
4) Installs, monitors, and directs proactive and reactive measures to ensure the availability, integrity, confidentiality and reliability of database systems
5) Assists in developing purge/archive criteria and procedures for historical application data on a relation model database environment
6) Implements and reviews appropriate security guidelines/mechanisms
7) Develops and tests database migration procedures
8) Troubleshoots application key selection, creation of appropriate indexes, and query needs
9) Moves, rebuilds, or changes database objects as required in production
10) May help train and assist entry level employees
