Artillery Gunner Support Technician III Full-time

at TRAX Test Services in Arizona (Published at 12-02-2019)

$24.88 an hour
Coordinates with Weapons Operations Planner Estimator and other Government representatives to identify weapon systems and weapon components by model number and serial numbers requiring maintenance or cleaning. Transports and retrieves weapons and weapon components to and from the various maintenance and inspection areas as well multiple storage areas throughout Kofa Firing Range. Operates a wide variety of military vehicles, the M113 series and M109 self-propelled howitzers, farm tractors, and forklifts up to 10 ton. Operates steam cleaner and pressure washer to ensure system or component cleanliness prior to inspections. Coordinates weapon deliveries with Maintenance Division and Metrology Branch. Coordinates with Supply Tech for shipping and receiving of cannon tubes. Provides consumption estimate for cleaning supplies and consumable equipment to Supply Tech to ensure adequate stock. Maintains chemical locker and chemical inventory. Provides guidance and direction to junior Gunner Support Techs. Provide mentorship and training to junior Gunner Support Techs. Performs other duties as required to complete the assigned mission. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Qualifications
Pay Rate: $24.88/hour
Education/Licenses/Certifications/Experience Requirements:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a current AA&E certification.
  • Must have two (2) years of experience as a Gunner Support Tech II OR (4) years of experience with artillery or mortar weapon operation or maintenance.
  • Must be licensed/certified to operate Weapons Operations Division equipment such as forklifts, farm tractors, track vehicles, etc.

Job Skills Requirements:
  • Must be able to accurately and completely perform equipment PMCS with little or no supervision.
  • Must be able to provide guidance and direction to junior Gunner Support Techs.
  • Must be able to provide mentorship and training to junior Gunner Support Techs.
  • Must be able to use basic hand tools.
  • Must be able to operate power tools.
  • Must have basic computer skills with Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.
  • Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Must be capable of lifting 100 lbs unassisted.
  • Must be capable of frequent squatting, crouching, and stooping.
  • Must be able to with stand wet or damp conditions for long periods.
  • Must be able to enter and exit self-propelled howitzers safely and comfortably.
  • Must meet the physical requirements necessary to perform operations outlined, performed, and stated in the SOPs for Artillery Test Section.

Job Requirements:
  • Must have dependable transportation and a dependable means of communication.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions.
  • Must be able speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • Must have a well-mannered customer service attitude.
  • Must be willing to cross-train in other areas.
  • Must use ?down-time? effectively to the benefit of test, self, and company.
  • Must be punctual, responsible, and dependable.
  • Must demonstrate motivation, initiative, and reliability.

  • Must have a demonstrated ability to follow instructions and company policy.
  • Must be able to deliver quality products to the customer and be responsive to their needs.
  • Must be safety and security conscious, complying with rules and policies.
  • Must be able to work both as part of a team and independently.

Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and not hold multiple citizenships.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.
  • Must be a current TRAX employee or affiliate subcontractor for internal postings.
