Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, the Marketing and Business Development Manager strategically develops and implements the SVSS advertising, marketing, and communications programs in order to build brand awareness and increase referral business revenue. The Marketing and Business Development Manager maintains responsibility for the creation of highly visible print marketing, communications and campaigns that seek to increase brand awareness among pet owners, general practitioners and other specialty referral hospitals in the veterinary space.

This position will serve to support the B2B efforts of SVSS, with a specific focus on copywriting, content creation, relationship building and will have a direct creative hand in expansion campaigns across the Southwestern U.S. veterinary communities, with specific regional focus. This role supports all internal communication initiatives and events to ensure clear communications regarding a variety of matters.

This role calls for an individual with marketing knowledge that intuitively and quickly can assess market dynamics and situations and act accordingly. Additionally, this individual with skills in project planning and management must demonstrate strong and clear accountability. The person, with his or her analytical abilities, will have broad and deep understanding of animal hospital marketing. Greater consideration will be given to well-qualified candidates with prior Veterinary Medicine experience.

Individual must be willing to travel greater than 75% of time with focus surrounding the Phoenix metro area and occasional travel to Tucson. Limited overnight travel may be required with emphasis in the Southwestern United States.

  • All offers of employment are conditional upon successful passing of background check, drug screening and motor vehicle record check. Motor vehicle record checks will be conducted annually on employees who will be covered by company insurance and drive the company vehicle for business related travel.

KEY Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead pro-active relationship building charge to foster, maintain and grow SVSS presence within the veterinary industry by designing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies to create awareness of SVSS business activities.
  • Plan and execute campaigns for company promotion, continuing education events, originate sponsorship, drive the SVSS brand, manage and increase relationships with veterinary professionals.
  • Ensure the local referring veterinary community needs are understood, met and future trends of the industry identified and communicated effectively.
  • Oversee and assure optimal social media presence for SVSS by identifying and researching social media storyline possibilities aligned with SVSS?s mission and resonate with our clients.
  • Where possible, provide market insights into local conditions, competition, changing landscape, industry trends, etc. See how to integrate national programs into the SVSS plan for a synergistic approach.
  • Maximize new business and client retention, local programs, and activities, with special emphasis on increasing referral business.

Key Attribute

  • Experience representing veterinary profession.
  • Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.
  • Bachelor?s Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or other related field, and at least 5 years related experience.
  • Demonstrated background in content management, creative writing, technical writing, advertising conception, social media, print, media negotiations, and digital advertising.
  • Positive interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative, courteous working relationships with others.
  • Demonstrated experience in internet architecture, direct mail, print and electronic advertising.
  • Strong creativity and marketing skills with ability to generate multiple and varied ideas.
