Lead Labware Developer Full-time

Position Description:
The Lead Developer will participate in implementing and supporting the Labware Laboratory Information Management system (LIMs). This work includes the following stages of development:
  • Write and review code for system and instrument integration
  • Configuration of labware system required to integrate with systems and instruments
  • Provide support to other developers and validation as required
  • Provide support to Integration workstream SME to identify integration solutions that meet business needs and align with industry best practices.
This position will collaborate with client laboratory subject matter experts and IT personnel to support the initial set up of the LIMs system and interfaces to other systems. This role requires strong Labware LIMS Basic development skills with experience integrating systems and Instruments. They can objectively evaluate information gathered from multiple sources and define an approach for development based on experience and industry best practices.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Analyze user requirements and process for systems and instruments and improvement opportunities to provide solution recommendations to a client's business and IT management as needed to optimize the use of the LIMs application and improve the end user experience through automation.
  • Creating labware installation packages to move labware objects between environments
  • Work with the Business Analysts to document and assist users in defining functional requirements.
  • Develop and update technical documents as needed. (i.e. System Desgin Specifications, Confguration Specifications)
  • Verify data integrity, functional integrity testing and data maintenance.
  • Have a complete understanding of the system architecture and infrastructure components.
FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualifications (Primary Responsibilities): Successful individuals will have some consulting experience and have worked in operations in one or more of the key areas mentioned above.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work within teams as needed
  • Basic consulting experience
  • Some ability to travel, as may be required to be on client or CGI sites
  • Collaborate in ensuring operations, resolution of issues, and mitigation of risks with Program Manager, Project Manager, Invoice Approvers, etc.
  • Deal with outstanding operations issues and action items to avoid delays
  • Escalate risks/issues as required to the appropriate person
  • Plan, organize, lead, monitor and control the activities of their respective assignments
  • Provide status updates and reporting on a scheduled basis.
  • Detail oriented with very good knowledge and understanding of tools including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project; knowledge of MS SharePoint is a plus.
  • Familiarity with package creations for moving labware objects from environments
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply principles, concepts, practices, and standards including knowledge and use of Pharma data and basic working knowledge of industry practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas, facts, and technical information to senior management, as well as other internal customers both verbally and written.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in the fast-paced environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE
Required Skills: In addition to Primary Responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Knowledge and experience using SharePoint Community Sites
  • Demonstrated project and operations coordination experience
  • Strong organization skills
  • Exemplary Communication Skills, whether face to face, tele-conference, video or transient electronic communication methods (IM, Skype, SMS) and practical knowledge of best communication method to use for circumstances
  • Attention to detail
  • Previous experience working with LIMS system, specifically LIMS Basic and coding.

  • Life Sciences and/or Healthcare experience
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Project
  • Business analyst experience or understanding
