Job Responsibilities

The Human Services Coordinator I will serve as a supervisor in Child Protective Services Assessment, Family Preservation, and Foster Care. The incumbent will supervise a group of Human Services Specialist I and II's in the area of Child Protective Services, assist the Program Coordinator in managing critical functions of coordinating data information and scheduling follow up meetings to ensure systemic implementation of processes. The supervisor must be willing to conduct casework services in the event that a worker is not present.
Supervise HSS I and HSS II's who deliver Child Protective Services.
Provide for and coordinates delivery of Child Protective Services. Monitor case related reports and distributes to staff for follow up.
Evaluate worker and program effectiveness, coordinate training for new staff and arrange for shadowing prior to CWS Basic Training. Also assists in delivering in-house Child Protective Services related training to new staff.
Participate in the selection of families for children, casework, caseload and workload planning, professional development of staff, and serving on committees and study groups for program improvements. Ensure all documentation of information (CFASP, collateral and progress notes etc.), decisions, actions taken are entered into CAPSS.
Maintain client and family rights to confidentiality in compliance with State and Federal laws. Adopt, implement and promote agency values and philosophy in the course of employment with the agency.
Maintain CPS certification. Attend APS certification training. Attend all recommended supervisory/leadership trainings and meetings.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in social work, social welfare or behavioral science and one (1) year of professional experience in human services or social service programs.
A Bachelor's Degree in any other field and two (2) years of professional experience in human services or social service programs.
A Master's Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare or Behavioral Science.
A Master's Degree in any other field and one (1) year of professional experience in human services or social service programs.
Selected positions may prefer supervisory experience.
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by the Division of State Human Resources.
Possess critical thinking skills to productively assess and work with a wide variety of people, to manage conflict and to advocate for children's needs. Working knowledge of child development, family dynamics, statutes and policies related to child welfare. Ability to collaborate with individuals, families and service agencies in the provision of services. Skills in assessment, strong written and oral communication, interpersonal relationships, collaboration, treatment planning.

Must possess a valid driver's license,be able&willing to drive & to transport children&adults; must be able to lift children & to interact with children&adults in a positive&supportive demeanor. Must have ability to cope with stressful work situations, & life threatening situations. Occasional overnight travel is required. Must be available for scheduled after hours on-call duties.
