The network and telecom analyst for Enterprise Technology provides a full range of telecommunication functions including planning, analysis, developmental installation project management and support of telecommunications equipment and networks.
In this role, you will provide analytical and technical support for operating, maintaining and installing information systems and applications, design and construct new systems, or modify and enhance existing systems within our voice, video and data wide area network.

Duties & Responsibilities

The work you will do includes ?

  • Performing needs assessments, analyzing business needs and problems experienced with current installed telecommunication equipment/systems.
  • Considering and identifying version compatibility issues.
  • Managing telecommunication projects.
  • Developing and evaluating bids, Request for Quotes and Request for Proposals for voice and data communication equipment/services.
  • Diagnosing user problems, answering user questions, coordinating solutions, tracking and reporting problems, testing new features and providing user training on specific software.
  • Managing the ODOT Telecommunication Network, functioning as initial point of contact for ODOT telephone problem resolution.
  • Providing second level support for network management.
  • Taking customer calls and Computer Support Desk calls for the network.
  • Installation, version control, version compatibility and system performance.
Working Conditions
  • The work you will do will be primarily in a normal office environment with field visits occasionally required.
  • You may also be required to participate in cross-functional or problem solving teams.
  • Work environment includes managing assignments with conflicting requirements and tight deadlines.
  • You must be willing to work irregular hours (weekends, evenings, holidays and to travel for job related purposes as needed).
  • You will have frequent contact with ODOT customers, personnel from DAS and external vendors.

Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills

Minimum Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of information systems experience in telecommunications and/or networking.
    OR
  • An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
    OR
  • Completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field.
    AND
  • One (1) year of information systems experience in telecommunications and/or networking.

A bachelor's degree, or higher, in computer science, information technology, or related field will substitute for all of the above.
Special Qualifications
  • Employee will be required to use a vehicle to conduct business; you must possess and maintain a current, valid driver license and acceptable driving record.
Desired Attributes/Application Scoring Criteria

In addition to your related work experience and education, we will use the attributes below to determine whom to interview.   • Experience performing network monitoring.
  • Experience creating network documentation and diagrams.
  • Experience coordinating the rollout of telecommunication services, upgrades and new site implementations.
  • Experience tracking asset inventory of network infrastructure equipment.
  • Experience with analog to VOIP migrations.
  • Experience with planning and implementation of Ethernet networks and VLAN schemes.
  • Experience with Cisco and Digi hardware devices.
