Semper Valens Solutions is seeking a Mission Area Director for the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland region. This position leads multiple Semper Valens Solutions, Inc. capture and business development activities for C4ISR and related mission engineering, system engineering, Cyber, Cloud, Field Support, and Enterprise IT. The Mission Area Director responsibilities include leading account planning, prioritization, pipeline development, key capture activities and innovative technical solution development, competitive pricing, price-to-win and brief leadership with gate reviews and decision points as needed.

Mission Area Director Focus and Duties:

The Mission Area Director is an integral role between multiple functional areas centered on multiple programs. This position is responsible for the successful: management and execution of contracts, business development, marketing and branding, financial reporting and ethics, team building and morale, and operational functions. The Mission Area Director serves as an interface to the customer and executive management. This position serves as primary point of functional overview for mission area contracts, reports directly to the CEO, and performs other related duties as apparent or assigned.


Mission Area Director Qualifications:

We are in search of candidates with an established customer relationships, who is known among Industry partners, and has outstanding personnel management and communication skills. Candidates considered will have demonstrated experience in:

Business Development:

  • Programmatic background with experience dealing with multiple contract types
  • Experience with all aspects of developing and submitting winning proposals
  • A high level of oral and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively with senior managers, colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with capture, business development and proposal processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of government contracting, acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors
  • Ability to shape Section L and Section M criteria to maximize scoring.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to engage, motivate and collaborate within a matrixed, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent proposal development expertise with color reviews, developing win themes, discriminators, value propositions and embedding this in the finished proposal product.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple capture actions of medium to large opportunities across
multiple customers, multiple capabilities and multiple locations of >$50m-$1B+.

Management/Leadership Skills:

  • Manage business operations in assigned directorate to achieve company goals.
  • Evaluate directorate performance and recommend new strategies for performance improvements.
  • Resolve business issues and ensure that all escalated issues are closed.
  • Address business inquiries from customers and team members in a professional manner.
  • Identify resources, assign workloads and manage schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Ensure that team work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in employee recruitment, performance evaluation promotion, retention and termination activities
  • Identify skill gaps and provide appropriate trainings to team.
  • Develop and enforce best practices to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Oversee staffing adjustments to obtain maximum productivity.
  • Recommend cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining productivity and quality.
  • Develop new business programs to meet productivity and revenue goals.
  • Provide guidance to team members and monitor their performance, discipline and attendance on regular basis.
  • Identify areas of improvements and concerns and accordingly develop action plans.
  • Conduct monthly Program Management Reviews (PMRs) with Program Managers (PMs) within your directorate.
