Institutional Research Specialist Full-time

at Lamar Community College in Colorado (Published at 09-01-2019)

Position: Institutional Research Specialist, part-time, will plan and implement institutional research studies and strategies to assess and evaluate the proposed initiatives of the Title III Strengthening Institutions five-year grant as well as overall institutional effectiveness in pursuit of the future health of the College. Includes applying methodologies to conduct data studies, identifying and understanding emerging trends, and assist with the presentation of stakeholder reports.

The Title III Strengthening Institutions five-year grant will support Lamar Community College?s effort to increase student success while strengthening the college and its communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Take a proactive role in strategic planning and analysis for the future health of the institution
  • Anticipate information needs and compile data trends to inform effective decision-making
  • Compile and conduct data analyses
  • Work with the External Evaluator to construct surveys and other data collection instruments to measure student success over time
  • Coordination and collaboration with Colorado Community College System (CCCS) Institutional Research colleagues
  • Other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications: Required- Bachelor?s Degree in social sciences, computer science, mathematics, education, or related field. Two to three (2-3) years demonstrated experience in research methods, data collection and analysis, and reporting in a consumable format using appropriate software tools and statistical analysis packages. Demonstrated facility with MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred- Master?s Degree. Three to five (3-5) years of experience working in the field of Institutional Research in higher education. Experience with a higher education data management system, such as Banner, Peoplesoft, or Ellucian. Demonstrated facility with SPSS and/or COGNOS.

Compensation: $23,000 - $28,000 (depending on education and experience), as well as other benefits that accrue to part-time administrative positions within the Colorado Community College System.
