NEPA Analyst Full-time

Position Summary and Responsibilities
The NEPA Analyst will be responsible for developing environmental documentation and analysis in support of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) impact analyses, with legal interface and regulatory agency coordination. Will provide technical reviews of environmental and analysis work by others, and provide recommendations to customers.
Possible task areas include siting analysis and participation in project planning.

Writing and developing NEPA documents including but not limited to:

  • Environmental Assessments (EA),
  • Environmental Impact Statements (EIS),
  • Categorical Exclusions (CATEX).

The NEPA Analyst will also be:

  • Preparing Record of Decisions (ROD) and Finding of No Significant Impacts (FONSI).
  • Analyzing engineering plans, GIS data, and other specific documentation to determine the depth of environmental impacts on all NEPA resource areas.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.


Requires a BS degree in Environmental Management Planning, Science or a closely related field. Normally requires approximately twelve years of applicable professional experience or a combination of graduate study and experience.

Strongly preferred:
MS in Environmental Science


  • Must have highly developed written and oral skills.
  • Must be able to understand how to obtain and explain detailed technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment.
  • Must be flexible and able to simultaneously work multiple complex tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate well and diplomatically with personnel of all levels including senior leadership.
  • Must be proactive and energetic a self-starter.
  • Must have ability to learn and understand technical details of a wide range of DoD project-types.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a Secret Clearance is required.
