General Summary of Position:

The Senior Government Solutions Engineer is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the RFP process and working in conjunction with the Government team as the key technical advisor and advocate for our products. The Solutions Engineer is to evaluate business processes in order to prepare, present, and promote the sale of business solutions, while ensuring overall sales process quality for proper implementation and profitability of Voice and Data.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review and respond to RFPs (Request for Proposals) from Government entities.
  • Assist the sales team and Pricing team in preparing customer quotes.
  • Assist in strategizing and closing sales.
  • Provide pre-sales design and application support for all Voice and Data products.
  • Provide post sales technical support to the sales organization and implementation teams.
  • Prepare and deliver technical training to the sales team in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • Provide network drawings involving Call Flow diagrams, IP applications and local exchange services.
  • Provide product demonstrations and whiteboard presentations for prospective customers, as well as installed customer base.
  • Compile and provide competitive information.
  • Provide project management technical oversight on major projects
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations to technical and executive audiences.
  • Limited travel required to attend trade shows and customer meetings.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, marketing, telecommunications or related field.
  • Ten years of sales and network engineering experience in a telecommunications provider or telecom vendor environment, in which primary responsibility was working with government contracts and/or RFPs
  • Solid understanding of legacy telco infrastructure, networking, and services.
  • Experience must have resulted in demonstrable expertise with current and emerging telecommunications technologies and associated protocols, to include Layer2 or Layer3 services, VoIP, MPLS, SIP Trunking, Metro Ethernet, VPNs, Frame Relay, DSL, IP, IP Telephony, CoS, QoS technologies, and the OSI model.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with software essential to the job, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Candidate must be proficient in Visio design software and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Knowledge of the FAR and other Government Acquisition Regulations are desired.
  • Previous experience working with the federal E-Rate and Rural Health Care programs, State Contracts, and local government RFPs
  • Exceptional attention to detail, time management skills, and written communication abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CCNA, CCDA
  • Adtran certifications
